Is that mold in the corner? What about on the tile in your shower? Should you be concerned?
Regular housekeeping and maintenance in your commercial building may include an everyday checklist of tasks-keeping bathrooms stocked, ensuring that garbage is properly disposed, and keeping things presentable and tidy. Does the checklist include checking all the nooks and crannies of the building where mold may grow? It is important to be proactive by checking areas that are not obvious for mold growth.
1. Walls and Ceilings
Walls can harbor mold both on the surface and internally. Check behind items that are pushed up against walls. Also, check ceilings and masonry such as bricks. These call all be the perfect areas for mold to thrive and multiply.
2. HVAC and Air Ducts
Humid temperatures circulating through dark spaces in HVAC systems and air ducts can create condensation. This can create the perfect environment for mold growth.
3. Unoccupied Rooms
Empty offices or areas that are closed up and not used or occupied on a regular basis should be checked at least once a week. There may not be adequate air circulation if vents are closed.
